Never one to miss an opportunity to play far-right culture warrior, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has joined a long list of evangelical Christian fundamentalists in railing against drag queens. Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, in response, found a perfect way to troll the Texas senator: inviting drag performer Trixie Mattel to read excerpts from Cruz's book "Unwoke: How to Defeat Cultural Marxism in America" on his show "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Mattel has been among the winners on "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars," hosted by drag star and dance-pop singer RuPaul — whose 1990s hit "Supermodel (You Better Work)" became an anthem in the fashion industry.

Before bringing Mattel on, Kimmel told viewers, "Ted's been out trying to sell the book. His last book, he had to get his own campaign to buy thousands of copies to get it up the list, which is sad. So we decided that this time, we'd help him out with an assist from one of the stars of 'RuPaul’s Drag Race.'"

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?

Mattel, in full drag, came on and showed a copy of "Unwoke" to a group of seven kids before humorously reading from it in a mocking tone.

The Daily Beast's Jennifer M. Wood, reporting on the segment, observed, "The kids were unimpressed."
