'Backing the blue to backing the coup': Rep. Swalwell lambasts GOP's law enforcement hypocrisy

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) called out the blatant hypocrisy of House GOP members during a Wednesday Judiciary Committee hearing.
"We're here because the Republican Party — that's done such a great job over many years standing up for the police — no longer back the blue," the congressman said.
@Acyn posted a brief clip from the hearing, writing, "Swalwell just dragging Republicans with their own tweets and posts."

In the video, Swalwell mentions a recent hearing, where the House Republicans "brought a witness who had just recently tweeted, F**k cops." Swalwell emphasized, "Anyone on earth could've come to that hearing and they brought someone that said "f**k cops?"
The California congressman then blasted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) — who has pushed a "Defund the FBI" campaign on her social media channels — to shed light on another example of Republicans' blatant hypocrisy.
"So we went from backing the blue to backing the coup," Swalwell said.
Former President Joe Biden staffer, Victor Shi, tweeted, "Holy cow. Rep. Eric Swalwell brings the facts & receipts AGAIN and rips into Republican hypocrisy and lies during a committee hearing. Rep. Swalwell is so good at this & shows us exactly how it's done. We need more of this. We can't let Republicans get away with their actions."
Over the past few years, the GOP has used the slogan "Back the Blue" in response to the Black Lives Matter movement. However, some MAGA lawmakers' still refuse to denounce the Jan. 6 insurrection, and are campaigning to defund federal agencies.
