President Donald Trump's decision to launch military strikes against Iran is being hotly debated among Republicans, with Fox News' Mark Levin encouraging aggressive intervention on behalf of Israel in the Israel-Iran conflict while ultra-MAGA figures like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) and "War Room" host Steve Bannon are taking forceful anti-intervention decisions.
Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pennsylvania), a member of the House Intelligence Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee, discussed U.S. intervention in the conflict during a Tuesday morning, June 24 appearance on CNN. Perry defended Trump's decision to attack three nuclear sites in Iran, but the far-right lawmaker stumbled when host John Berman asked him about Iran's nuclear capabilities.
Perry, during the interview, stressed that Iran must be prevented from developing nuclear weapons.

Perry told Berman, "I think the point is: Their capability has been significantly degraded. However, there is still a marginal threat because the real thing is that Iran cannot have a nuclear capability at all. They simply — they're a terrorist nation, and they can't have that capability. So how far do you let them get? And I would suggest that they can have no nuclear capability that's not for civilian purposes. And none of this has ever been for civilian purposes."
Berman pressed Perry, however, on whether or not Iran "has enriched uranium that is not for civilian purposes."
"So after these 12 days," Berman asked Perry, "there is still a terrorist regime in power with enriched uranium?"
Perry agreed that there is, inspiring Berman to ask, "Is that good?"

Perry replied, "No, of course it's not good. But again, the goal for the United States of America is to make sure that they can't do anything with that enriched uranium…. The president took decisive action, and I applaud that decisive action to make sure that their capability was degraded such to the point that they can't use that in a way to imperil their enemies."
