Dem leaders use 'baffling' Trump talking point — and immediately get called out for the same thing

Democratic leaders in Congress, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-New York), continue to focus on President Donald Trump's weak poll numbers.
But according to Semafor's Dave Weigel, a "baffling" Democratic talking point about the president's popularity isn't doing their anti-Trump case any good.
On X, formerly Twitter, Florida Voice News' Eric Daugherty posted video of Schumer saying, "The polls this week show Trump has the lowest 100-day approval rating since they started polling 80 years ago. The lowest."

But the same video also shows a reporter telling Schumer that a recent poll showed his approval at 17 percent, which is even lower than Trump's. And Schumer told him, "Polls come and go. Our party is united."
Daughtery, in response to Schumer touting polls one minute and dismissing them the next, tweeted, "911. I NEED TO REPORT A M[U]RDER!:"
Weigel, forwarding Daugherty's tweet, wrote, "Jeffries and Schumer keep talking about Trump’s poll numbers, which usually prompts this follow up. Baffling."
