Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), 2024 GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump's running mate, has been drawing widespread criticism for his "childless cat ladies" comments of 2021 and 2022 and for attacking prominent Democrats — including Vice President Kamala Harris, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg — for not having biological children.

Many of Vance's critics, however, have reminded him that Harris has two stepchildren via her husband Doug Emhoff and that Buttigieg and his husband are adoptive parents.

Now, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders is drawing criticism for echoing Vance's rhetoric. And some of the criticism is coming from a Never Trump conservative and former GOP congressman: MSNBC host Joe Scarborough.

Sanders, during a speech in Flint, Michigan, told the MAGA crowd, "Not only do my kids serve as a permanent reminder of what's important — they also keep me humble…. So, my kids keep me humble. Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn't have anything keeping her humble."

During MSNBC's Wednesday morning, September 18 broadcast, host Mika Brzezinski commented, "What is their obsession with women without (biological) children?" — adding that Sanders' comments are offensive to many women. And Scarborough responded, "It's just cruelty…. They are playing for a very small subset that relishes the cruelty…. It's so patently obvious that it's just to be hateful. They just do this to be hateful."

Scarborough pointed out that Harris often speaks lovingly about her stepchildren, arguing, "They know the truth. They have heard Doug's children's mom say time and time again that they are all part of a blended family."

The Never Trump conservative, who is supporting Harris in this year's presidential election, sarcastically added, "You know, not everybody, I guess, is perfect like Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Donald Trump. I guess, Donald Trump and JD Vance — maybe they're just perfect in this respect."
