Roger Stone under investigation by Capitol Police over threat to murder House Democrats

Far-right operative Roger Stone — a longtime accomplice of former President Donald Trump — has reportedly gotten on the radar of the US Capitol Police after audio emerged of Stone suggesting that two House Democrats should be assassinated.
Mediaite reported Tuesday that Capitol Police, in conjunction with the FBI, are now investigating Stone over his remarks in which he called for Reps. Jerrold Nadler (D-New York) and Eric Swalwell (D-California) to be murdered. An unnamed source provided a recording to the outlet last week in which Stone can be clearly heard telling his associate, Sal Greco — a former NYPD officer who was fired over his work with Stone — that it was "time to do it," referring to the assassination of Nadler and Swalwell.
"Let’s go find Swalwell. It’s time to do it. Then we’ll see how brave the rest of them are. It’s time to do it. It’s either Swalwell or Nadler has to die before the election. They need to get the message. Let’s go find Swalwell and get this over with," Stone is heard saying. "I’m just not putting up with this s--- anymore."
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
Rep. Swalwell urged the Capitol Police to take Stone's threat seriously in a statement to Mediaite, saying that while the tape "may seem like the ravings of a wannabe gangster," the implications are far more sinister.
"This is what Trump and his real-life thugs do: they try to intimidate opponents and will always choose violence over voting. Because I’m one of Trump’s loudest critics, Stone put a hit out on me," Swalwell said. "Both parties, not just Democrats, must condemn this violence. Unity will always be the best antidote against further violence."
The source who provided the recording to Mediaite said that even though Stone may try to dismiss the recording as AI-generated, it jibes with his previous calls for political violence caught in the documentary A Storm Foretold.
"It was definitely concerning that he was constantly planning violence with an NYPD officer and other militia groups," the source said. "Roger spent election day and the months prior calling for acts of violence, which can be seen on video in the film."
