'Simply deranged': MTG lambasted for claiming 'Biden administration is a communist regime'
United States Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) suggested during a Sunday Fox News appearance that America is operating under a system of communism because former President Donald Trump has been prosecuted.
Speaking to Fox host Maria Baritamo, Greene said, "Bidenomics is failing America. People can hardly afford gas. They can hardly afford groceries. And many seniors on a fixed income are choosing between paying rent and being able to buy their medications. People are drowning in inflation and America's failing under Bidenomics. They have no policies to run on. The only thing they can run on is to continue smearing President Trump's name. And I just wanna follow up, Maria, and say the more times they indict Trump, the more people realize that the Biden administration is a communist regime. And for the first time, Americans are actually seeing what communism really looks like, and we have to stand up to this."
The MAGA lawmaker continued, "This is why Republicans in the House, when we come back in September, we have to vote for an impeachment inquiry because it's the right thing to do. Whether Joe Biden $5 to his name for corrupt business deals or whether he took $40 million, it doesn't matter. It's up to Republicans to do the right thing and not allow the Department of Justice to win the 2024 presidential election for Joe Biden."

During an MSNBC appearance last month, Politini Media Chief Executive Officer and political analyst Danielle Moodie said "I'm gonna say something unpopular. People need to stop paying attention to the polls and start paying attention to what Joe Biden is actually doing. And the numbers don't lie, Republicans do," Moodie said. "And so that's the thing that we need to hold fast to. Everything that Joe Biden has done since the beginning of his administration, he has been winning. This is actually what winning looks like, not what Donald Trump told us that it was. And so when you look at inflation in comparison to the rest of the world, America is doing incredibly well. You look at the gas prices that came down. You look at the infrastructure bill that was passed, and it was a bipartisan bill. And so what Democrats need to do is just keep hammering down on Bidenomics."
Also last month, economists recognized a significant inflation drop "to the lowest level since March of 2021."
Moody's Analytics Chief Economist Mark Zandi said, "One couldn't ask for a better report on consumer price inflation. Inflation is definitively throttling back, and while today's report overstates the case, there is a strong case that inflation is headed in the right direction. The Fed should rethink the need for more rate hikes."
Furthermore, National Geographic defines communism as a system "based on the goal of eliminating socioeconomic class struggles by creating a classless society in which everyone shares the benefits of labor and the state controls all property and wealth."
According to National Museum of American History, "Capitalism is the economic system in the United States. It is a market economy," meaning "people, not the government, own most businesses. In the U.S., businesses decide what to sell. They decide how much money to charge for products and services. Then people decide what they want to buy. This is called a market economy. The economy is controlled by individual people, not by the government."
Journalists, political strategists and professors blasted the GOP lawmaker's comments via social media.
Director of University of Southern California Center for the Political Future Robert Shrum commented: "This is simply deranged."
Political Strategist Simon Rosenberg said: "The reason MTG and Republicans keep having to invent a party to run against is that aren't going to be able to beat the Democratic Party, the one they will be facing in the election next year."
NYU Law Professor Chase Madar said: "Not sure this even means anything to Americans under 45 (outside Florida). Anti-communism has lost its bite in the land of $699 EpiPens."
Stephen Rodrick, Chief Correspondent at Variety added: "I don't know man, not sure you get to take a remarkably creative home office deduction under communism."
Condé Nast Legal Affairs Editor Luke Zaleski said: "Marge is actively trying to cut the head off the department of Justice and their prosecution of the insurrectionists. She is a traitor and a confederate soldier—not an American public servant—and a growing threat to the rule of law and a free and unified United States of America."
