Watch: Mike Pence tells Fox News that prosecuting Donald Trump would be 'terribly divisive for the country'

Ex-Vice President Mike Pence told Fox News on Monday that he thinks that the United States Department of Justice should not indict former President Donald Trump for inciting the January 6th, 2021 Capitol insurrection or his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
"But when it comes to the Justice Department's decision about, about, about, bringing charges in the future, I, I would hope that they would not bring charges against the former president. I, I don't – look, I, as I wrote in my book – I think the president's actions and words on January 6th were reckless, but I don't know that it's criminal to take bad advice from lawyers. And uh, and so I hope the Justice Department is careful," Pence said on America's Newsroom hours before the House Select Committee investigating the deadly attack is set to refer Trump, his enablers, and his attorneys to the Justice Department for potential prosecution.
"There might be criminal referrals on that too, and so we'll see on that. We're running out of time," host Dana Perino interjected.

"Well," Pence sighed, "I hope the Justice Department understands the magnitude – the very idea – of indicting a former president of the United States. I think that would be terribly divisive for the country."
