January 10, 2025 | 11:20AM ETBankJudge Juan Merchan on Friday released audio of remarks inside his courtroom during Donald Trump’s “hush money” sentencing.
Merchan sentenced the president-elect to an unconditional discharge on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to his 2024 trial at the New York Supreme Court. In a 5-4 vote on Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court denied Trump’s request to delay the sentencing.
Merchan’s sentence makes Trump the first convicted felon to ever assume the presidency in the United States.
