In wake of reports detailing Fox News' settlement with Dominion Voting Systems, Howard Kurtz, a news anchor for the conservative network, admitted that some of the claims aired by the network were "obviously false."

Kurtz's remarks came on Tuesday, April 18 during his appearance on-air with Fox News host Neil Cavuto. After reviewing the network's latest statement on the defamation case, Kurtz weighed in with his reaction.

At one point during the discussion, Kurtz acknowledged that the case centered on falsey-reported claims suggesting the voting technology company's machines were rigged.

“Former President Trump and his allies made this case on Fox and elsewhere, that somehow they were stealing votes from Donald Trump and flipping them for Joe Biden," he said during his appearance on "Your World." "That’s obviously false. Those were conspiracy theories."

“But the case would have revolved around whether Fox had done due diligence, whether it was reckless, whether it was simply reporting, as the network contends, on an extremely newsworthy matter argued by the then-president of the United States himself,” he said.

Although the network did argue that its reporting should be safeguarded by the First Amendment, communications that emerged during the trial revealed that a number of news anchors were on the fence about claims of widespread voter fraud and election machines being rigged.
