'He won’t get confirmed': GOP congressman slams 'abhorrent' Trump AG pick Gaetz

Some of President-elect Donald Trump's proposed nominees for his incoming administration have been generating scathing responses from his critics, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (Trump's pick for heading the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) and Tulsi Gabbard (a Vladimir Putin sympathizer Trump has chosen for U.S. intelligence director).

But the pick that is generating the most controversy of all is Trump's choice for U.S. attorney general: former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida).

Gaetz has plenty of adversaries not only in the Democratic Party, but also, among fellow Republicans — including former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-California). And some House Republicans still resent Gaetz deeply for the role he played in McCarthy being ousted as speaker.

One of Gaetz's outspoken GOP foes is Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio).

During an interview with CNN's Manu Raju on Monday, November 18, Miller made it clear that he considers Gaetz a terrible choice for U.S. attorney general.

The conservative congressman told Raju, "I'm looking at him as a member of Congress and the job that he has done here, and it has been abhorrent…. I'm not the only one who thinks this way. I just say the quiet part out loud, and I wish other of my colleagues would have the same courage to do so.”

Some Republicans in Congress are avoiding criticism of Gaetz, as they don't want to say or do anything that might offend Trump.

But Miller candidly told Raju, "Him, as a member of Congress, should not be the most powerful law enforcement individual in our country. And everyone knows it. And he's not going to get confirmed. And so, this is solely based off of his job as a member of Congress, within this body, that has caused more harm — made us spend more money…. than any other member."
