Sen. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) recently weighed in with his take on CNN's recent Town Hall with former President Donald Trump.
Although Trump continued to push false claims that he's circulated in the past, the Florida lawmaker claimed Trump presented “an exquisite knowledge of the facts.”
Gaetz shared his remarks during a recent appearance on Newsmax's "The Balance" where he lauded Trump's performance at the Wednesday evening event while also praising CNN for hosting the event.
A notable point in the discussion came when Newsmax host Eric Bolling asked Gaetz his opinion of the Town Hall.
During the broadcast, Bolling said, “So Trump explodes the ratings over at CNN. Management goes crazy. They like the ratings, but they are getting massive pushback… What are you hearing in the halls of Congress?”
Gaetz described the event as "a win for both Donald Trump and CNN" as he said, “President Trump showed a comfortable command of the room. He had an exquisite knowledge of the facts. He brought receipts to counter some of the false narratives that have been put out by a lot of mainstream media."
He added, "And he interacted with people asking questions in a very warm and comforting and almost host-like way.”

Throughout the broadcast, Trump echoed many false claims and despite being fact-checked, he simply moved forward with his own agenda. For Gaetz, CNN's handling of the conversation was worthy of praise.
The lawmaker continued, “You’ve got in CNN, I think, an opportunity. So let’s give credit where credit’s due. Chris Licht didn’t have to do this. And I think it’s a good thing for the country and a good thing for CNN that they would platform people that they don’t necessarily agree with.”
