Marjorie Taylor Greene 'demanding answers' from Biden administration about leaked Pentagon documents
United States Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) revealed to right-wing podcast host Charlie Kirk this week that she sent letters to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and President Joe Biden "demanding" that they provide her with strategic intelligence and operational logistics regarding Ukraine.
Greene's remarks followed her previous statements defending the actions of Air Force National Guardsman Jack Teixeira, whom the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested last week after he allegedly leaked classified Pentagon documents in a group chat earlier this month.
"So, Congresswoman, your Republican colleagues seem to be just dropping the ball here. Where, where, where is the Republican Congress doing subpoenas, bringing Millie, bring in Austin, saying, why, why do we have troops in Kyiv? What, what, what's going on here? Why are, why is the Republican response to the, been so weak, Congresswoman? What's going on?" Kirk asked.
"Well, I, I don't know. I can't even, I can't comprehend it. I can't answer for them. I don't know why I'm the only one saying these things. Um, but it usually always starts out this way. I already have a letter, um, prepared. I'm sending off to Lloyd Austin, someone that really should be fired from his job for not controlling, um, our, our Department of Defense. But I'm sending him a letter and I'm demanding answers to questions," Greene replied.
"I wanna know what steps the Department of Defense is taking to make US military operations in foreign countries funded by American taxpayers more transparent. So it's not to be, um, humiliated by leaks of classified documents. I wanna know what type of military operations are being conducted by US Special Forces in Ukraine. I'm asking, did President Biden authorize the placing of American troops in Ukraine without the constitutional approval needed from Congress? And lastly, I'm asking how many American service members are currently stationed in Ukraine, aside from the fourteen reported in the leaked documents," Greene continued.
"That letter has been fired off, and I have given him, um, a little bit of time to respond," she added. "But I'm demanding answers and I'll continue to keep speaking them, Charlie, and more of my Republican colleagues need to join me in this effort."
