'Fetish for losing elections': Marianne Williamson slammed over latest announcement

Marianne Williamson – a failed Democratic presidential candidate in the 2020 and 2024 elections — announced on Thursday her bid to be the next Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair.
"I’m proud to announce I’m running for Chair of the DNC," the former spiritual adviser to Oprah Winfrey wrote via the social media platform X. "In order to respond to the challenge of this moment, the Democratic Party needs transformation."
The New Republic reported that the ex-presidential candidate said in a video published to YouTube: "I am announcing I’m running for DNC chair because I feel that I can bring a level of expertise to the process of lifting up this possibility of victory over the next two and four years in a way that will not occur if we are only looking traditional means of politicking in order to make that happen."
Others in the running include former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, Minnesota Democratic Party leader, Ken Martin, and Ben Wikler, chair of Wisconsin’s Democratic Party, according to the New York Times.

Several journalists and political experts were quick to respond to Williamson's announcement.
Louie Kahn, digital director for Rep. Ami Bera (D-CA), replied via X, writing: "Reminder that Marianne Williamson ran for the Democratic nomination and got zero delegates."
College Democrats of America national Vice President Sunjay A Muralitharan commented: "When I say we need change in the DNC, this is NOT what I mean. @marwilliamson should stick to writing instead of politics. Her abusive work culture has no place in the DNC."
Daily Kos reporter Emily C. Singer replied: "I think she has a fetish for losing elections"
Colorado State University political science professor Kyle Saunders wrote: "Well, this will definitely solve everything."
