Former "Today Show" anchor Katie Couric heaped criticism on President Donald Trump during a recent episode of her podcast for what she viewed as sophomoric behavior.

During her Thursday interview with ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl, The Hill reported that Couric launched into a monologue about Trump's insult of former President Joe Biden in an official White House display. In September, Trump unveiled a new "Walk of Fame" exhibit outside the West Wing of the White House, in which portraits of all 47 presidents are shown in succession.

While each president's face is shown above their name, Biden's face was replaced with a photo of the autopen, which Trump has repeatedly attacked him for using (Trump himself has admitted to using the autopen). When the exhibit went up, Wall Street Journal reporter Annie Linskey tweeted that an unnamed source within the White House confided that "the Biden portrait was Trump's idea."

"That is so creepy," Couric said of the exhibit. "And I mean, I’m sorry, I’ve kind of gone beyond trying to be impartial here, Jonathan, because his behavior is so beyond the pale."

Couric has lately been more vocal in her opposition to the Trump administration, particularly in the wake of Trump's attacks on the longtime journalist. She told the Daily Beast earlier this week that "there's a lot [she] can handle," and that she feels particularly unbound as an independent journalist in a way that she hadn't been when she worked for NBC.

"I don't have any corporate overlords kind of trying to influence how I report on things that are happening," she said. "I feel incredibly liberated."

"Donald Trump has called me a 'has been,' but I'm just happy to be a 'has been' who can speak her mind," Couric continued. "... I mean, honey, I've been in the tabloids for years."
