'Complete gibberish': Trump ripped for 'heinous, reprehensible' speech exalting Hezbollah as 'very smart'
Election 2024

In less than a week, more than 2,300 lives, according to Yahoo News, have been lost in the Israel/Hamas War — which started when Hamas launched a vicious terrorist attack against Israel on Saturday, October 7.

Hamas, however, isn't the only far-right extremist group that Israel is worried about. Israeli officials are also worried about the Lebanon-based, Iran-supported Hezbollah.

Former President Donald Trump discussed Hezbollah and the October 7 attack during a rambling campaign speech in Palm Beach, Florida on October 11, repeatedly describing them as "very smart" and attacking Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for "letting us down." And that speech has been following by plenty of ridicule on X, formerly Twitter.

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?

Attorney George Conway, a Never Trump conservative and one of Trump's most scathing critics on the right, said of the speech, "Complete gibberish from P01135809. He's clearly deteriorating."

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has been trailing Trump by sizable margins in the 2024 GOP presidential primary, was highly critical as well.

DeSantis tweeted, "Terrorists have murdered at least 1,200 Israelis and 22 Americans and are holding more hostage, so it is absurd that anyone, much less someone running for President, would choose now to attack our friend and ally, Israel, much less praise Hezbollah terrorists as 'very smart.' As President, I will stand with Israel and treat terrorists like the scum that they are."

The Meidas Touch's Ron Filipkowski noted Trump's emphasis on Hezbollah, quoting him as saying, "Hezbollah, they're very smart. They're all very smart."

Wall Street Journal foreign correspondent Yaroslav Trofimov observed, "Trump, still smarting about Netanyahu not endorsing his 2020 stolen election claims, praises Hezbollah as 'very smart' and blasts failures by the Israeli government."

Pundit Cesar Gomez tweeted, "Is he yelling out secrets or is he yelling Putin's instruction? Is he officially a Russian agent or is he just going against US interest?"

Another X pundit, Gavin Henry, posted, "So right away, in his first speech since the attacks, Trump praises Hezbollah and criticizes Netanyahu."

Gary Marlowe wrote, "Heinous and reprehensible that during a campaign speech in West Palm Beach, Florida, Donald Trump can praise Iran-backed Hezbollah militants for being 'very smart' and attack Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for 'letting us down.'"
