'Planting manila folders': Eric Trump launches 'tin foil hat' theory against Jack Smith

An "angry" Eric Trump launched a new conspiracy against former special counsel Jack Smith, one of his father's perceived enemies, according to The Daily Beast.
President Donald Trump's second son appeared on Fox News to promote his new book when he began to take aim at the former special counsel who led investigations into allegations concerning the 2020 presidential election and Trump's mishandling of classified documents.
Trump argued that his father is the "real victim of political weapinonization," despite his recent crusade to punish his political opponents including former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Leticia James, among others. He also claimed the FBI planted evidence against his dad his Palm Beach country club was raided in 2022.
“I got a call. ’The FBI is at the front gates of Mar-a-Lago. They have a search warrant sir.’ And I go ‘why would they have a search warrant? What are they trying to search at Mar-a-Lago?’” Eric "raged," reports The Daily Beast.
“I don’t know, but they’re instantly demanding that you turn off every security camera. Obviously Mar-a-Lago is a commercial property, right?” he said.
The 41-year-old Trump then went "full tin foil hat," saying “'They’re demanding you turn off your security cameras right now!’ And then sure enough we find out that Jack Smith is planting manila folders on the office of my father, taking these you know, glamorous photoshoots where he has them all fanned out like a turkey."
The Daily Beast debunked Trump's claims, noting, "the search of Mar-a-Lago was conducted in August 2022 after the U.S. government had previously tried to retrieve documents with Trump’s cooperation on numerous occasions."
The report also notes that Smith was not, as Trump claimed, "planting manilla folders."
Eric Trump has taken to the media circuit since NY AG James was charged with bank fraud after President Trump publicly called for the Justice Department to take action.
The president and his son hold a grudge against James for carrying out a successful fraud case against him and the Trump Organization that received a judgment totaling more than half a billion dollars. That judgement was eventually thrown out.
Following that, Eric Trump, still an executive at the Trump Org., ranted on Fox News that "his family spent $400 million defending themselves against 'sham' investigations and claimed those were no different than the search of Mar-a-Lago," The Daily Beast reports.
