Former U.S. Senator Doug Jones (D-Alabama) did not mince words in his response to a viral video of white nationalists marching towards the United States Capitol Saturday.

Christopher Webb share shared a clip of the group via Twitter, writing, "White supremacists — Patriot Front, are at it again marching toward the U.S. Capitol in their oh so terrifying Old Navy fatigues."

Jones reacted to the video, saying, "I damn sure hope they haven't been listening to Tuberville and going to try and enlist! Nah, guys hiding behind sunglasses and bandanas like this are cowards, not fighters. They are not even patriots."

The former Democratic senator was referring to U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville's (R-AL) recent decision to block "184 top U.S. Armed Forces nominations and promotions to protest the Biden administration's support of women in the military accessing abortion."

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer also condemned Tuberville earlier this week, following remarks the GOP leader made backing "white nationalists and other extremist supporters of former President Donald Trump."

During an interview with Birmingham's National Public Radio affiliate station WBH earlier this week, the far-right lawmaker called white nationalists "Americans."

The longtime New York Democrat said, "Does Senator Tuberville honestly believe that our military is stronger with white nationalists in its ranks? I cannot believe this needs to be said, but white nationalism has no place in our armed forces and no place in any corner of American society, period, full stop, end of story."

He continued, "I urge Senator Tuberville to think about the destructive spectacle he is creating in the Senate. His actions are dangerous."
