'Daily Show' host brutally mocks Trump team’s latest damage control efforts

U.S. President Donald Trump drew widespread criticism on both the left and the right when, during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he called for the United States to occupy war-torn Gaza — which, he argued, had the potential to be turned into a major resort area.
Democrats attacked Trump's proposal with a vengeance, while conservative allies like Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) were more gentle in their criticism.
In a Thursday night, February 6 commentary on "The Daily Show," host Desi Lydic brutally mocked Trump allies' attempts at "damage control" over the Gaza controversy.

"Yesterday," the comedian said with biting sarcasm, "Donald Trump unveiled his big plan to relocate Gazans and turn their homeland into the world's holiest Hard Rock Café Hotel & Casino. And today, the reviews are in: the Arab World hates it, Democrats condemn it, Republicans have problems with it, and the Palestinians won't abide by it."
Lydic, however, showed a clip of Trump insisting that "everybody loves" his Gaza plan.
"Even though the plan was totally perfect in every way," Lydic mockingly said, "his staff spent the entire day walking back every single part of it."
Lydic made fun of White House Press Secretary Karolina Leavitt's efforts to explain Trump's Gaza proposal, saying, "Trump's press secretary just had her first walkback. This is an important rite of passage for Trump's spokespeople….. Even worse for Karoline, while she was scrambling to salvage Trump's plan, Trump was on Truth Social readjusting it on the fly — which left everybody even more confused…. A walkback and a double down?"
