Watch: Conservative stumbles when asked to define 'woke'

Right-wingers love to throw the term "woke" around as a jab at liberals and progressives, but nailing down a consistent definition has proven to be a difficult task. On Tuesday, conservative author Bethany Mandel was asked by Briahna Joy Gray of The Vanguard's Rising podcast what "woke" means.
It did not go well.
"...percentage of Americans consider themselves very liberal and probably fewer of them consider themselves to be woke. And so, you know, when when we talk..." Mandel began.

But Gray cut her off, getting right to the point.
"What does that mean you? Could, could, would you mind defining woke? Cause it's come up a couple times and I just wanna make sure we're on the same page," Gray requested.
"So, I mean, woke is sort of the idea that, um, I – this is gonna be one of those moments that goes viral," Mandel replied, unable to provide a solid response following an extremely long pause.
"I mean, woke is something that's very hard to define and we've spent an entire chapter defining it," she continued. "It is sort of the understanding that we need to totally reimagine and redo society in order to create hierarchies of oppression. Um, sorry, I, it's, it's hard to explain in a 15-second sound bite."
