Biden Administration restoring immigrant success task force is 'a more welcoming approach': report

Today President Joe Biden announced that his administration will reinstate a task force to help immigrants and refugees safely and effectively integrate into the U.S.
The Associated Press reports that the Task Force on New Americans, controlled by the Domestic Policy Counsel, will include workforce training, education and financial access, as well as language learning. It was originally launched and enforced in 2014 under the Obama Administration, but later revoked at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic when then-President Donald Trump closed the U.S.-Mexico border completely.
Ironically, Biden came under fire this year by immigration advocates and organizations for using that same policy to stop Venezuelans from seeking asylum. However, last month, a federal judge ordered the Biden Administration to lift Trump’s asylum ban, calling it “arbitrary and capricious.”

Unlike his predecessor, Biden has, what the Associated Press calls ‘a more welcoming approach’ to immigration, as he has stated his belief that immigrants “enrich the United States and make the nation stronger.” And as the Trump-era policy, known as Title 42, comes to an end, the Biden Administration is expecting a major uptick in the number of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Moving forward, the White House says that the task force plans to examine ways to improve existing integration policies.
