Ann Coulter fears Trump will doom GOP in both Houses of Congress
Election 2024

After Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' 19 percent reelection victory in 2022, right-wing firebrand Ann Coulter was confident that he would soar as a presidential candidate and bury Donald Trump's hopes of returning to the White House. But on Sunday, January 21, DeSantis dropped out of the 2024 GOP presidential primary and endorsed frontrunner Trump.

The New Hampshire Republican primary is now a contest between only two candidates: frontrunner Trump and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, both of whom Coulter is highly critical of.

In a tweet posted on January 21, Coulter argued that Trump will make control of Congress an uphill battle for Republicans this year.

Coulter tweeted, "All that matters now is saving the House and the Senate (which Trump will try to lose for us, again)."

The right-wing author slammed Haley in a separate tweet, accusing her of favoring "open borders" and posting a racist caricature of Haley wearing a Mexican sombrero.

Coulter posted, "At the donors' request, Nikki is 100% for open borders."

Coulter retweeted some posts from fellow DeSantis supporters who were sorry to see him drop out of the race, including Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Florida-based conservative Peter Henlein — who said of DeSantis, "If the GOP prefers Trump to him, then the GOP isn't worth a damn."

Coulter's comments on the 2024 election have drawn a variety of responses from conservatives.

Some Trump loyalists attacked her for not supporting him, but conservative Kyle Beckley agreed with Coulter and posted, "I'm not even going to wait for Trump to tell me to not vote to not vote for him. The Senate and House might yet be saved."
