Ron DeSantis spokesman deletes anti-OAN tweets following OAN CEO’s generous donation to his boss: report

One America News (OAN), like Newsmax, prides itself on being to right of Fox News and Fox Business and even more pro-Donald Trump than those cable news outlets. OAN, however, is more prone to outlandish, way-out conspiracy theories than Newsmax — so outlandish that even Jeremy Redfern, a deputy spokesman for far-right Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, has a history of mocking them on Twitter. But according to the Daily Beast’s Justin Baragona, Redfern scrubbed his Twitter account of anti-OAN posts after OAN CEO Robert Herring sent “a fat $20,000 check to the Florida governor’s reelection PAC.”

“That admiration may not be entirely mutual from the governor’s camp,” Baragona explains in an article published on September 27. “DeSantis’ deputy spokesperson Jeremy Redfern — an outspoken Twitter presence — has a history of relentlessly trashing the MAGA cable outlet, especially after the Capitol insurrection.”

Baragona notes some of Redfern’s anti-OAN tweets of the past. On January 6, 2021 — the day of the Capitol insurrection — Redfern tweeted, “OAN. The most trusted leader in Fake News.” And Redfern said of former OAN host Christina Bobb, “This is an OAN reporter. She is delusional.”

After Joe Biden won the 2020 election, Bobb — who is now an attorney for Trump — insisted that “Biden will never be president.” And Redfern mocked her for it.

“The DeSantis flack then quietly proceeded to delete each of these tweets, plus one from 2020 that previously eluded Confider: ‘OAN. (Something that starts with an O) qAnon Network? Help me out here.’ Redfern did not respond when Confider followed up to ask why he’d deleted the posts.”
