Mike Pence is campaigning for a 'fake elector' in Georgia — Brian Kemp’s running mate: report
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and former Vice President Mike Pence are among the Republicans who former President Donald Trump has been lambasting for refusing to join him in promoting the Big Lie and claiming that the 2020 presidential election was stolen. But unlike Kemp and Pence, Burt Jones — the GOP nominee for lieutenant governor in Georgia — has been a vocal Big Lie promoter. And Pence is campaigning for him in Georgia.
In a tweet posted on September 26, Never Trump conservative Amanda Carpenter points out that Jones was “a January 6 fraudulent elector.”
After the 2020 election, MAGA Republicans in various swing states that now-President Joe Biden won pretended to represent the Electoral College and even presented fake election documents to election officials. In Georgia, Carpenter notes, Trump loyalist Jones was an example of a fake elector.

According to Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Greg Bluestein, Pence “will return to Georgia next month for a pair of fundraisers to boost GOP candidates, marking his first return to the state since a May rally with Gov. Brian Kemp that punctuated a deepening divide with Donald Trump. Pence will hold an October 13 fundraiser in Atlanta with State Sen. Burt Jones, the GOP nominee for lieutenant governor, and State Sen. Tyler Harper, the Republican contender for agriculture commissioner. He’ll head to Thomasville later the same day to raise cash for U.S. Rep. Drew Ferguson of West Point and Chris West, the GOP nominee running against veteran Democratic Rep. Sanford Bishop.”
Carpenter cited Pence’s support of Jones as an example of the fact that even some “normal” Republicans are supporting Big Lie promoters.
Carpenter posted, “What’s interesting is that MAGA folks are excited about GOP ‘unity’ events…. because the so-called Team Normal folks are coming around election-denialism and other nutty ideas. Not the other way around.”
Twitter user Janet Byrd, @gajbyrd, commented, “So Pence is raising cash for Burt Jones who is a fake elector? Guess Pence forgot the fake elector scheme almost got him killed on Jan 6!”
