Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday defended President Joe Biden's Student Loan Debt Relief Plan and condemned criticism from Republicans who supported slashing taxes for the rich without any means of paying for it.

"First of all, a lot of the same people who are criticizing what we rightly did in following through on a commitment that we made to forgive student loan debt are the same people who voted for a tax cut for the richest Americans," Harris told reporters in Cape Canaveral, Florida following the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's rescheduling of its test launch of the new Artemis lunar rocket program.

"So when we look at who is benefiting from this, ninety percent of the people who are going to benefit from student loan forgiveness make under $75,000 a year," the 49th veep continued. "And that debt is the reason that they're unable to start a family, buy a home, and pursue their piece of the American dream."
