For the third time in as many years, a mysterious bruise on former President Donald Trump's right hand has set the internet ablaze. A photograph of Trump appeared on Twitter early Saturday evening that clearly shows a big brown splotch on his skin – and people are curious about what caused it.

Various theories popped up on social media.

"What is happening with his hand?" wondered attorney Ron Filipkowski, who posted the picture.

At first glance, the blemish looks like it was the result of an IV. But this is Trump, after all, and social media had no interest in giving him the benefit of doubt.

Miles Taylor, who served as the United States Department of Homeland Security's chief of staff from 2018-2019, had a compelling hypothesis.

"Have *you* ever touched a Horcrux?" he asked. "Donald is obviously experimenting with hiding a fragment of his soul in a dark magical object for the purpose of attaining immortality."

Or maybe...

The best hands.
