Lauren Boebert brutally mocked after implying that Biden is compromised by the Kremlin

In 2022, it hasn’t been hard to find MAGA Republicans who were happy to defend or praise Russian President Vladimir Putin — a list that ranges from Fox News’ Tucker Carlson to “War Room” host Steve Bannon to former President Donald Trump. Arch-conservative Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming has even described Putin’s Republican defenders as the “Putin wing of the GOP.”
But Rep. Lauren Boebert, known for promoting far-right conspiracy theories and echoing QAnon talking points, implied that President Joe Biden is being compromised by Russia during a March 31 speech on the House floor. And Boebert, who had no proof to back that up, is being called out on social media.
Attacking Biden’s interest in green energy, the Colorado congresswoman said, “We know that American natural gas is 42% cleaner than Russian gas. So, it’s not for environmental reasons. But maybe there’s another reason we don’t know about. Perhaps there’s 10% in this tucked away for the big guy.”

Boebert’s comments come at a time when U.S./Russia relations, under Biden, are the worst they’ve been since the days of the Soviet Union and Biden is imposing tough economic sanctions against Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine.
When MAGA Republicans claim that Biden is compromised by a foreign government, they usually claim that it’s Ukraine — which, Bryan Tyler Cohen notes on Twitter, is a common anti-Biden claim in Trumpworld:
JUST IN: The Russian Ministry of Defense is releasing state-funded propaganda on Hunter Biden after Trump publicly asked Putin to do so. The propaganda combines Trump’s Hunter Biden conspiracy theories with Putin’s anti-Ukraine disinformation.— No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen (@No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen) 1648741500
Some Twitter users have pointed out that Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich has a steel mill in Boebert's state:

Their attempts to smear President Biden has failed as the economy is booming & the job recovery is historical. they have to use conspiracies about Hunter, thinking it will work like the conspiracies against Hillary. there’s enough sane ppl who know they’re not voting for Hunter.— Kom Bomb Phenomenon (@Kom Bomb Phenomenon) 1648741806
