Melania Trump capitalizes on her husband’s presidency with another NFT collection
Former First Lady Melania Trump kept a relatively low profile during her four years in the White House — certainly compared to other first ladies, from Michelle Obama to Nancy Reagan to Betty Ford to Eleanor Roosevelt. But Trump has been in the headlines recently because of an NFT (non-fungible token) collection that seeks to capitalize on her husband’s presidency.
Newsweek’s Emma Nolan reports, “The former first lady's latest non-fungible token project is called the ‘Official POTUS NFT Collection’ and will include ‘ten original pieces of digital artwork highlighting iconic moments from President Trump's administration,’ according to a statement from her office.”
The collection, Nolan adds, is “set to launch on President's Day, February 21” and is comprised of “10,000 tokens, featuring the ten designs, on sale for $50 each.”

According to Nolan, “The digital artworks mark moments such as former President Donald Trump's Fourth of July visit to Mount Rushmore in 2020, Christmas at the White House and a trip on Air Force One.”
The items, like so many things associated with the Trump family, aren’t without controversy.
“An investigation by Bloomberg News revealed that a series of blockchain transactions show the cryptocurrency used to purchase the digital asset came from a wallet belonging to the entity that had put the token up for sale,” Nolan observes. “Trump has denied that the $185,000 purchase came from her or her office.”
