Unhinged Republicans are rallying around Trump's former White House advisor Steven Bannon in wake of his indictment for his failure to appear for a deposition with the Jan. 6 investigative panel.

According to Vanity Fair, the loyal Trump Republicans are sounding off with delusional arguments opposing the House Select Committee for holding Bannon accountable for ignoring a congressional subpoena.

Despite Bannon's failure to comply with the law, some Republican lawmakers are attempting to blame Democrats for the ordeal. On Saturday, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) tweeted her concerns about Bannon's federal grand jury indictment.

"Now that Democrats have started these politically-motivated indictments for Contempt of Congress, I look forward to seeing their reactions when we keep that same energy as we take back the House next year!" Boebert tweeted on Saturday, just one day after the indictment was announced.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) also attempted to project Trump's shortcomings onto Democratic lawmakers.

“For years, Democrats baselessly accused President Trump of 'weaponizing' the DOJ. In reality, it is the Left that has been weaponizing the DOJ the ENTIRE TIME - from the false Russia Hoax to the Soviet-style prosecution of political opponents," Stefanik claimed.

With a photo of himself pictured with Bannon, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) Also expressed support for the former White House official.

Contrary to what Republicans claim, Trump repeatedly tried to weaponize the DOJ, often targeting his political enemies. Vanity Fair notes that Trump "desperately tried to get the DOJ to prosecute, among others, Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden."

The House committee report outlines the behavior that let to Bannon's subpoena.

"Mr. Bannon appears to have played a multi-faceted role in the events of January 6th," the report reads. "And the American people are entitled to hear his first-hand testimony regarding his actions."
