‘This is unhinged’: Americans gawk at ‘jarring’ 6-page letter Trump sent to Pelosi declaring his impeachment worse than the Salem witch trials

December 17, 2019 | 02:46PM ETNews & PoliticsPresident Donald Trump on Tuesday sent a remarkable 6-page letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi denouncing the impeachment inquiry and claiming — among other things — that “more due process was afforded to those accused in the Salem Witch Trials” than are being afforded to his administration.

Political observers were quick to point out that the letter appeared more or less a regurgitation of the president’s increasingly frantic tweets about impeachment, written on White House letterhead and signed by Trump in Sharpie.
On CNN, senior political analyst John Avalon remarked that the president’s letter is “unhinged.”
