Joe Biden once thought Clarence Thomas would be 'reasonable' on abortion

Democratic activists have been understandably bewildered and angry at POTUS frontrunner VP Joe Biden’s repeated claims that Trump is an aberration and that he can work with Republicans, all evidence to the contrary. He seems to have completely forgotten Mitch McConnell’s obstruction of Obama for 8 years, including repeated threats to crash the debt ceiling and culminating in refusal to even grant a hearing on the nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court after the death of Justice Scalia.
But as Amanda Terkel points out, this is far from the first time Uncle Joe has been this gullible about the evil nature of elected Republithugs. In 1991, after mishandling the Anita Hill hearing during the confirmation hearing for Clarence Thomas, and despite voting against Thomas appointment to SCOTUS, Biden publicly stated that he didn’t think that Thomas would be extreme on abortion.
When it comes to Republican evil, Biden’s learning curve seems disastrously slow.
Yes, I’ll vote and campaign hard for him if he is our nominee, but every day gives us more reasons to look elsewhere for a champion in 2020.
