Nancy Pelosi slams Trump's AG Bill Barr: He's 'going off the rails'
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is clearly growing agitated with Attorney General Bill Barr, who fanned the flames of conservative conspiracy theories Wednesday by raising concerns that President Donald Trump's campaign was illegally spied on by the government, despite admitting he had no evidence that he could cite for the claim.
Barr has also yet to release Special Counsel Robert Mueller's final report on the Russia investigation, though he has released his own spin on its principal conclusions. He has said he will release a redacted version of the document within a week.
“I don’t trust Barr, I trust Mueller,” Pelosi said Wednesday to the Associated Press.
She noted that Barr is behaving more like the president's personal defender, rather than the head of the U.S. Justice Department.
“He is not the attorney general of Donald Trump. He is the attorney general of the United States,” she said.
Politico's Kyle Cheney reported that Pelosi also said Wednesday of Barr: "How very, very dismaying and disappointing that the chief law enforcement officer of our country is going off the rails."
