Jeff Bezos is investigating his leaked sexts — and the probe has bizarre ties to Trumpworld

Amazon founder and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos has been a target of President Donald Trump's wrath for years — his role as a major media magnate and a billionaire whose wealthy far surpasses Trump's own clearly grates on the president. But Bezos was hit with a wave of personal troubles when the National Enquirer published intimate texts between him and a woman he was having an affair with, delivering a major blow to his reputation.

Now, in pursuing how those texts leaked, a private investigation commissioned by Bezos is finding bizarre ties to Trump's orbit, according to the Daily Beast.

The most obvious tie, of course, is the National Enquirer. It's parent company, American Media. Inc., has been named as a part of the Southern District of New York's charges of Michael Cohen's criminal violations of campaign finance law during the 2016 election, which implicated Trump as directing the crimes. The violations were allegedly carried out in concert with AMI and its CEO David Pecker, who has had a long relationship with Trump and often published stories favorable to the president.

But a new Daily Beast report found that Bezos' investigation has been led to Michael Sanchez, a proud supporter of the president and the brother of Lauren Sanchez, who has been having an affair with Bezos.

In addition to being a prominent Trump supporter himself, Sanchez is also a personal and business associate of Roger Stone and Carter Page, two of the president's allies who have been caught up in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. Stone was indicted last Friday on seven counts including lying to Congress, witness tampering and obstruction of justice, while Page has been the subject of counterintelligence surveillance because of his apparent ties to Russian espionage.

Page and Stone both confirmed their relationships with Sanchez to the Daily Beast.
