CNN's Don Lemon Defends Lebron James for Using His Platform to Call Out Bigotry: 'There's No Other Side to Racism'
CNN's Don Lemon made forceful denunciations of the "both sides" approach to racism during a discussion with host Poppy Harlow about his interview with NBA star LeBron James.
Lemon's remarks came after confirming that he believes James would run for office.
"He is so outraged, and rightfully so," Lemon said.
"We sit here on television and you have to discuss it," Lemon continued. "Let's hear this side, that side. There's no other side. There's no other side to racism."
Lemon took aim directly at Trump's equivocating response to white supremacists in the wake of the Charlottesville violence.
"There's no other side to saying that there are good people or fine people on both sides in Charlottesville," he said. "It's absurdity.
Lemon also highlighted the responsibility all public figures have to speak out on issues of morality.
"I do think to a certain extent, anyone who has a platform, anyone who makes a livelihood off of the public, has the responsibility to give back and to speak out for what's right and wrong," he said.
"It's not about right and left. It's about right and wrong."
