'Apologize to the Sandy Hook Families': Bernie Sanders Aide Shames Alex Jones as He Hounds Senator
Alex Jones, the conspiracy theorist and extreme right-winger, hounded Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) at LAX in a video posted by Jones' outlet Infowars, in an apparent attempt to ask the senator tough questions that wildly mispresent his view and records. But as the senator studiously ignored the absurd provocations, one of his aides took the opportunity to shame Jones for the damage his conspiracy theories have caused.
"Apologize to the Sandy Hook families, Alex," the aide says as he blocks Jones from Sanders.
Jones has repeatedly said that the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, in 2012 were a hoax, claims that prompted the families of the victims to sue the host for defamation. The families have said that Jones' vitriolic use of their personal tragedy forces them to relive the trauma as he spreads his falsehoods to millions of his fans.
In a weak response to the aide's call for him to apologize, Jones said, "You guys need to." Of course, the families themselves argue that it is Jones, not Sanders or the Democrats, who have harmed them.
