'Decency Hit Rock Bottom': Joe Biden Lambastes Trump White House's 'Trail of Disrespect' Toward John McCain

The Right Wing

Former Vice President Joe Biden on Friday released a scathing statement condemning Kelly Sadler, the White House aide who on Thursday dismissed Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) opposition to Donald Trump’s nominee for CIA director because “he’s dying anyway.”

“People have wondered when decency would hit rock bottom in this administration,” Biden wrote. “It happened yesterday.”

Biden has a longstanding friendship with McCain, who was diagnosed almost a year ago with the aggressive brain cancer glioblastoma. Biden’s son, Beau Biden, was killed by the disease in 2015.

“John McCain is a genuine hero—a man of valor whose sacrifices for his country are immeasurable,” Biden wrote. “As he fights for his life, he deserves better—so much better.”

Biden described Sadler’s language as “the epitome” of Trump’s White House.

“Given this White House’s trail of disrespect toward John and others, this staffer is not the exception to the rule.”

“Our children learn from our example,” Biden said. “The lingering question is whose example will it be.”

“I am certain it will be John’s,” Biden wrote.
