Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) must have forgotten his mic was live when he made an inappropriate remark about female teenage Senate pages to Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ).
"I thought you were going to say this was one of the most beautiful girls. What about these others?" Wicker said, motioning toward a group of pages. Booker appears to laugh at his comment on the video captured by C-SPAN.
According to a statement from Wicker reported by the New York Daily News, Wicker's remark was "meant as a light-hearted jest" in response to Booker mentioning that a page hailed from one of the most beautiful places in America.
The comment came during the passage of a short-term spending bill to end the government shutdown.
