According to LiveKindly, more than 100,000 people have pledged to go vegan this January. Veganuary reports that one person every six seconds vows to ditch meat, dairy, and eggs.

With multiple food forecasts naming veganism at the top of their lists, 2018 is expected to be a big year for plant-based eating. In fact, leading hospitality consulting firm Baum + Whiteman recently predicted in its 2018 Food & Beverage Forecast that vegan food would be a megatrend of the coming year.
Over the past decade, veganism has seen consistent growth as millennials—the world’s largest generation—purchase their own food. Concerned about the environment, animal welfare, and their health, this generation boasts more self-identifying vegetarians than any other, according to the New York Times.
The growth of veganism is great news for the countless animals who suffer horribly at factory farms. Despite being just as smart and sensitive as the dogs and cats we adore at home, cows, pigs, and chickens raised and killed for food are subjected to unimaginable cruelties: extreme confinement, brutal mutilations, and violent deaths.
