Bob Mueller Has Filed First Charges in Russia Investigation: Report
Special counsel Robert Mueller filed the first charges in the Russia investigation and a federal grand jury in Washington has now approved them, according to a CNN report late Friday evening.
Mueller is tasked with investigating "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation," referring to the ongoing inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign.
The report doesn't specify who is being charged or what the charges are. The charges remain sealed by a federal judge.
CNN reports that arrests could be made by Monday. The report states, "On Friday, top lawyers who are helping to lead the Mueller probe, including veteran prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, were seen entering the court room at the DC federal court where the grand jury meets to hear testimony in the Russia investigation."
No public announcement has yet been made by officials involved with the investigation.Â
