Watch: Guy Takes Magic Mushrooms, Attempts to Assemble Ikea Furniture
The good folks at Hikea Productions are at it again. They wowed the internet last week with their video of a young couple taking LSD and trying to assemble Ikea furniture, racking up more than 2 million YouTube views in a matter of days. Now, the next installment is out in their putting-furniture-together-while-tripping-brains series.
In the new video, a bald, bearded, bespectacled young man named Keith eats magic mushrooms and attempts to assemble an Ikea desk. It becomes a heroic odyssey.
After about 45 minutes, the mushrooms take hold: "I am able to communicate effectively through my voice and mouth box, but somewhere there's a grease fire in my thought box," he says. "But," he smirks, "I retain control. I'm ready to build. I feel like I've been summoned here to do what many have done through the ages… building some well-priced furniture."
Extra credit to Hikea for making the Justin Bieber poster on the wall move its lips and say, "All you gotta do is believe" as Keith begins his assigned task.
But it doesn't go well. He is overwhelmed by the instructions: "This is like a f**king joke, it's a book of lies, a book of lies."
Keith breaks out laughing and gives up: "It is hard guys, because I'm so f**king lost."
After encouragement from the crew, he tries again a half hour later.
"It's been rough, but I feel like I'm making progress," he reports hours later. "I've got a drawer."
Finally, after more than five hours, Keith has succeeded and is ready to wax metaphysical: "Furniture," he explains. "It's wood. It's metal. You gotta put it together. It's pieces. The interconnectedness of man and nature, self-actualization, self-awareness. Build it. Swedish."
