On the first "Nightly Show" episode of his last week on air—his show has sadly been canceled—Larry Wilmore came out blazing, with the Trump campaign and its ridiculous shenanigans his first target. First up, Trump “spokesgoblin” Katrina Pierson, who recently has become the butt of endless jokes for her contention that Obama invaded Afghanistan in 2001—seven years before he was elected president.
“What is wrong with you people?” Wilmore asked. “Perhaps you’re not familiar with all the disasters from the Bush administration. There was a terrorist attack. We got into two wars. Vice President Dick Cheney shot his friend, for chrissakes. There was a horrible hurricane, which—thanks to [Pierson]—is no longer the first thing that comes up when you google the words ‘Katrina’ and ‘total f**king s**tshow.'”
Wilmore noted Pierson has since admitted she was wrong about her comments, but pointed out that faux pas like these are still cause for concern.
“All she had to do was be alive for the last 16 years to have known she was wrong. And keep in mind, as a goblin, she may have been alive for centuries.”
Wilmore noted that while Trump surrogates “spew these lies,” Trump himself remains at the top of the dungheap—a liar who, as Wilmore says, “doesn’t mind the taste of bulls**t in [his] mouth.”
“Donald Trump has stopped being funny,” said Wilmore. “He’s stopped being outrageous. He’s stopped being politically incorrect. He’s just downright dangerous. And the worst of it is, he’s just a liar.”
“And I don’t want to hear (puts on whiny voice), ‘Hillary Clinton’s a liar, too!’ That is a false equivalency. Hillary Clinton is a very smart and capable politician, whom many people don’t trust because she spends too much time lawyering her words so she doesn’t lose votes instead of telling us what she actually fucking thinks, all right? Donald Trump is a psychopathic narcissist who not only has the hands of an infant, he has the mind of one.”
“And I apologize to all infants.”
