Now You Can Comment on AlterNet Like a Rock Star
I'm really happy to let you know we have a brand spanking new comment system that will make engaging with AlterNet stories more fun and a whole lot easier. And in case you don't know me, I'm Roxanne Cooper, the Associate Publisher who supervises technology, as well as a bunch of other stuff (like social networking and advertising), at AlterNet.
With "Disqus," you'll be able to post comments on AlterNet using your mobile device, follow particular conversations by signing up for email notifications or RSS feeds, and "vote up" your favorite comments. You can also automatically post your comments at AlterNet on both your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Sounds great, right?
Furthermore, if you've commented on Huffington Post, Raw Story or CNN, you're ahead of the game and already signed in, ready to have loads of fun and spirited debate in our comments sections.
If you are a Disqus virgin you have several options. You can use your AlterNet profile to comment OR you can sign on using Facebook Connect, Twitter, Yahoo, OpenID or Disqus. (Note: If you have a blog on AlterNet's SoapBox, we advise you to use your AlterNet profile to login. That way, you can seamlessly bounce back and forth between posting comments and posting to your SoapBox blog.) Even more fun, right?
A small warning: The initial Disqus sign up may seem a little "wonky" at first. But rest assured. It gets easier and easier. And once you're signed on, you're always signed on ...until you clear your cookies. For those of you who aren't into the cookie thing, that means you'll have to log in each time you want to comment at AlterNet.
So happy commenting. And if you have any problems don't hesitate to let me know about them by writing me at roxanne (at) alternet (dot) org.
Believe it or not, I look at all of your letters. I don't need a lot of sleep and it's pretty entertaining reading late at night.
