SNL: Carl Sagan's Global Warming Christmas Special [VIDEO]
December 21, 2007
This vintage clip from Saturday Night Live circa 1990, features Mike Myers doing a decent Carl Sagan and Tom Hanks doing a spot-on Dean Martin, as well as several other celebrity impressions from the talented cast (I miss Chris Farley), in a spoof of those holiday variety specials that were ubiquitous in the 70s and 80s. This sketch is particularly prescient because it's a "Global Warming Christmas Special". Sagan was very much ahead of the curve on global warming and not unlike Al Gore he gets mocked here (albeit lightly) for being too alarmist. Guess who got the last laugh? Anyway, it's an interesting find, and the Dana Carvey as Paul McCartney bit is hilarious. Check out the video to your right for more.
