Wilmore Destroys Fox News' "Charleston Was an Attack On Religion" Trope (VIDEO)

It gets said a lot by the leftwing press but this time it's 100% true: Fox News reached an all new low yesterday.

In its morning coverage of the massacre in Charleston, all pundits, hosts, and guest read from what appeared to be the exact same script. It was important, above all, to Fox New' script writers that the obvious, well-documented, and undisputed racial element to the killings would be entirely ignored while the idea that the assault was an attack on "faith" would be invented, apparently out of whole cloth, and presented as fact. It was a truly pathetic sight and one that left Nightly Show host Larry Wilmore genuinely offended.

As Wilmore noted repeatedly, the alleged perpetrator literally says, "I want to kill black people." The motive, in this case, couldn't be more plain. But to a channel that day in and day out insists racism is an invention of the left, the sheer cognitive dissonance of acknowledging this obvious fact would be too great to handle. When your business is the denial of reality, the only thing to do when that reality hits you over the head with a club is to change the subject entirely. It was a master class in sophistry and one Wilmore wouldn't let go on unnoticed. 

"Even on a day like today, Fox News just makes my fucking head explode," Wilmore said.

Harkening back to the Alabama church bombing of 1963 that killed four girls, he would appeal to history, pointing out that even during the lowest points of the civil rights movement the issue of racial motive wasn't denied. Not even by the racists themselves.

"Back then, no one pretended to wonder what the motivation was," he said. "If you tried to say it was about religion, even the perpetrators would have corrected you."
