'You don't know jack': Ex-RNC chair rips Trump’s 'ridiculous' attack Zelensky

Many Democrats inundated President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance with scathing criticism following their televised Friday, February 28 meeting with visiting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the White House Oval Office.

Trump and Vance angrily berated Zelensky, accusing him of "gambling with World War 3" and being ungrateful to the United States despite all the U.S. military aid it has received. But in fact, Zelensky thanked former President Joe Biden more than once during his years in the White House.

Not all of the criticism of Trump and Vance's attack on Zelensky is coming from Democrats, however.

During a Saturday morning, March 1 segment on MSNBC's "The Weekend," host Michael Steele — a Never Trump conservative, former chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), and ex-Maryland lieutenant governor — slammed Trump as being painfully uninformed on foreign matters.

Steele told fellow "The Weekend" hosts Alicia Menendez and Simone Sanders that Zelensky was "sitting there watching this barrage of crazy come at him" from Trump and Vance.

The former RNC chairman said of Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials, "These people know the enemy they're dealing with. They have history here. They were once part of the Soviet satellite system…. So, listening to Donald Trump, who doesn't know jack…. Mr. President, you don't know what warfare is…. So, let's talk about that war experience."

Steele continued, "You don't understand what this what this man has gone through and how he's been able to knit together the kind of victories, given the reticence — let's be honest, the reticence — of the U.S. throughout some of this as well. And now the abject rejection of Ukraine is ridiculous."

Sanders, who served in the Biden Administration before joining MSNBC, agreed with Steele's comments — applauding Ukraine for spending "three years" fighting back against invading Russian forces.

Sanders told her colleagues, "God bless Zelensky, and I just hope the Americans pull it together."
