MAGA governor booed at Labor Day festival in his own state

For decades, Virginia was known for being a deep red state. But these days, Virginia is very much a swing state and has, according to Democratic strategists, evolved into Democrats' best state in the South.
Nonetheless, Virginia has a conservative Republican governor: Glenn Youngkin, who was booed at a Labor Day 2024 gathering in Buena Vista.
Youngkin, who is supporting Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, was speaking when members of the crowd began chanting, "We're not going back, we're not going back" — a slogan being used by Trump's Democratic rival Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

On X, formerly Twitter, Aaron Fritschner — deputy chief of staff for Rep. Don Beyer (D-Virginia) — commented, "Buena Vista, Virginia is the kind of place that hasn't always had a strong Democratic presence in election season — but at today's Labor Day parade, it was different. Watch as Glenn Youngkin, stumping for Trump, gets booed and drowned out with chants of 'We're not going back!"
The Best Places website describes Buena Vista as "moderately conservative."
Youngkin was elected governor of Virginia in 2021, but he cannot seek reelection in 2025 — as governors cannot serve two consecutive terms under Virginia state law.
