Tuberville rant about Biden’s physical fitness conveniently ignores his own stumble

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama), the far-right MAGA Republican who spent months holding up military promotions, has made plenty of snarky comments about President Joe Biden's physical and mental fitness — a theme he revisited at the 2024 Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) gathering on Thursday, February 22.

But The New Republic's Tori Otten notes that Tuberville conveniently forgets to mention his own stumble back in October 2023.

During an onstage interview at CPAC 2024, Tuberville said of Biden, "He doesn't know what day it is." And he later told far-right Newsmax that it was worrisome to "see (Biden's) decline over the last few months" — adding, "I don't think he'll make it. Just watched him yesterday walking on a tarmac in L.A. with Nancy Pelosi, shuffling his feet, looking at the ground. We've gotta have some leadership in this country."

In response, MeidasTouch's Ron Filipkowski — in a post on X, formerly Twitter — showed video of Tuberville's Biden Newsmax comments alongside video of him slipping and falling last year.

Otten notes, "Tuberville, though, is 69 — no spring chicken himself. And the Alabama Republican appears to have conveniently forgotten a major lapse in his own physical abilities, when exiting a plane in October."
