On Tuesday morning, Reuters published an analysis revealing that more than a hundred members of the United States Congress and every living former president but one "are direct descendants of ancestors who enslaved Black people."

The exception among White House occupants, according to Reuters, is embattled ex-President Donald Trump, noting that "Trump's ancestors came to America after slavery was abolished."

Reuters also found that "governors of 11 of the 50 US states in 2022" as well as Supreme Court Associate Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch "were descendants of slaveholders."

After multiple news outlets picked up the story throughout the day, Trump took to his Truth Social app to gloat about his ancestry.

“'President Joe Biden and every living President-except Donald Trump - are direct descendants of slaveholders: Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and - through his white mother’s side - Barack Obama…' Reuters. I hope that every African American in our Country is reading this right now," Trump "truthed" at 8:40 p.m. "REMEMBER!"
