'Hold on': Trump voter stumped when asked what he’d do if ex-president is convicted

A man who voted for Donald Trump in Saturday's GOP primary in South Carolina didn't know how to answer when he was asked who he'd vote for in the event the former president is convicted of a crime before the general election.

A CNN reporter interviewed a man identified as "Max," who said he voted for Nikki Haley to be governor of South Carolina, but voted for Trump over her as president. When asked by the news outlet about his reasoning, Max suggested Trump had proven he was up to the job by actually having been president.

Max also cited that Trump's presidency had a positive benefit on his Christian faith and his family.

Max was also asked if Trump's legal problems had given him any pause, to which he replied that he himself had a prior run-in with the law and that he wouldn't judge Trump for the same.

"As somebody who has accidentally broken the law myself, carrying a firearm into an airport, I believe that a legal system can be confusing. Not always transparent."

But when pressed on what he would do if there was a conviction, he needed a moment to think about what he'd do.

"So if he is convicted, you would be potentially open to voting for someone else?" the interviewer asks.

"I don't know if I would go ahead and, I, hold on," Max said. "Let me think for a second."

After a brief pause, he replied, "It would have a serious impact on my decisions. I would say that. I would honestly say that that is probably where my stance is currently. It would have serious impact on my decisions."
