President Donald Trump is spending the afternoon in Michigan as he marks 100 days into a controversial second term with record low poll numbers.
“He’s doing what needs to be done,” Trump supporter Kate Hopper told NBC News reporter Vaughn Hillyard. “It's hard for some people to swallow, but I think we need to see how it plays out, and I believe it will play out for the betterment of our country.”

When Hillyard asked another supporter, who did not identify herself, if she was “prepared to pay higher prices for goods” she answered she has already “been paying higher prices.”
“When Biden got in office, my groceries have doubled, my gas has doubled. “[But] I'm not used to it.”
“Are you prepared for more?” Hillyard pressed. “These are massive tariffs.”
“Yeah, but it has to happen before it goes back down,” the supporter argued.

Other opinions are not so generous. Twice as many people said President Trump deserves a grade of “F” rather than an “A” for how he's handled his first 100 days in office, according to a new NPR/PBS News/Marist poll. The same poll noted 45% said Trump deserves the failing mark, compared to 23% who would pass him with flying colors, but it also recorded half of independents grading him with an “F”, and only a slim majority of Republicans giving him an “A”.
